Have a nice worker's day, as they call it in normal countries, or Vappu (roughly translated into "Getting pissed in the park dressed in strange student overalls) the finnish version of it.

Back from the trip to germany...

Crucchi maledetti. Se la passano un sacco meglio di noi. Vuoi una piscina COMUNALE? Vai nel centro di Friburgo, Ã¨ nuova, pulita, costa poco, c'Ã¨ la sauna (con tanto di signorina per nulla imbarazzata di star seduta in mezzo a dieci uomini nudi, io mi sono sentito di colpo un alieno cattolico... eh eh). Insomma, non vi tedio con il solito discorso della pulizia delle strade, dei piani regolatori sensati, delle mille piste ciclabili, ma ogni volta che metto un piede fuori dall'Italia torno che mi girano a mille.

Per dire, banco informazioni di Torino Porta Nuova, anno 2006: il tizio della biglietteria non sa gli orari, ti manda all'Information Desk (cioÃ¨ scrivania delle informazioni: Ã¨ infatti un ufficetto con due scrivanie e due tizi leggermente confusi, livello studenti ECDL base). Questi cercano su un computer stile commodore 64, poi copiano la tabella delle coincidenze che ti servono su un foglietto con una pennabic, che ti consegnano cosÃ¬ puoi tornare dal bigliettaio e raccontargli gli orari dei treni...

Unica consolazione: i treni superveloci che i miei amici hanno preso (ICE) erano in ritardo clamoroso: a quanto pare per motivi di "danneggiamento persone sui binari"... il natale Ã¨ davvero alle porte.

P.S.: Sorry, this post is about complaining. And Italian is so much better when it comes to complaining... :D

After failing to find a decent train connection, here I am on my way to germany, to visit Theodor and Nils, in the wonderful town of Freiburg Im Breisgau.

Snow is expected on friday, and probably some other people will be traveling on that day, since we are celebrating some very interesting dogma. My car is getting kind of old,and i got it from the "caring hands" of my mother so the front wipers are a bit slow, the rear view mirror is a bit loose, but I think the old faithful will take me safe and sound to the land of cheap and good beer.

I can't wait to leave, work has been quite hard lately, and going away will be good distraction. Besides, i will probaly be able to take some pictures again, to add something to my quite deserted flickr page!

Time to reunite again, and get some updates from some old time friends.

Sauna, beer drinking, going to some far swimming pool and nonsense talking are all expected.

Tchuss! and see you again next week, if I manage to cross the alps... :)

I particularly sympatize with the "My flat is small but it eats all my money..." :D

The station, the church... good old days, that I miss greatly. It's almost three good years now!

I definitely need to get a sauna sometime soon. :D

But don't you think it would be a lot better to go around completely drunk with a kind of coloured work-suit full of Nokia patches, and wash a statue and then puke and then wake up the next morning in Kaivopuisto (a park in helsinki)?

It's been around for a while: a technique that turns your pictures into fake miniature models...

(Ok, it was some bright guy's idea with a proper tilt-shift lens, then we followed, the poor photoshop users...)

anyway, there's a tutorial here!

In the picture, Olympia Stadion in Helsinki - does it look a bit like a miniature? (say yes, please!)
