Ovviamente, in periodo di esami, la necessità di studiare porta alla volontà di fare qualsiasi altra cosa (eh, era proprio tempo di pulire quella mensola in alto, di costruire un deterrente per piccioni con gli stuzzicadenti, di usare il teorema di pitagora in flash, di reinstallare ubuntu sul pc), ma questa volta forse l'ho fatta utile.

Per il corso di Storia delle dottrine politiche, ho rispolverato il mio caro wiki (dokuwiki powered) e con pazienza certosina mi sono messo a fare i riassunti dei capitoli, prendendo dagli appunti. La cosa di usare un wiki per gli appunti era fra le proposte che avevamo fatto tempo fa per un'iniziativa universitaria di cui al momento ignoro le sorti, e d'altronde è una di quelle cose che fatte da soli sono meno utili che in compagnia (ehm..). E' infatti il sogno utopistico sarebbe un mega wiki collaborativo di appunti di tutti i corsi, fatto da volenterosi di cui io mi faccio profeta! :)

Però, pensandoci, l'idea di tirare fuori un ipertesto con gli appunti di un corso non è male. La prima cosa, nel caso di un corso come questo, è la possibilità maniaca di inserire le fotine dei personaggi trattati. Oltre il fatto che fa molto "collezione di figurine panini (quello nella foto è Hamilton), la speranza è che la memoria visiva venga in mio soccorso in sede d'esame. Poi, trasformare nel discorso i nomi degli autori in link, inserire link a wikipedia e risorse varie fa si che alla fine sia piu utile dei miei scarabocchi sui quaderni pigna.

Il fatto di usare Dokuwiki (che stringi stringi per me è quello che va meglio), consente di avere alla fine delle pagine "ben strutturate" in termini di xhtml, e quindi ben navigabili anche da dispositivi mobili (non sto suggerendo niente eh... :) ).

Ho anche in mente di usare le tag (fascista, progressista, pazzoide, buonomo) per organizzare i pensatori. Anche se, in definitiva, tutti questi stanno sotto la categoria "noi ammericani semo mejo de vojartri".

Wiki in the classroom

Il corso di Ingegneria del Cinema e dei Mezzi di Comunicazione (nome corto corto) del politecnico di Torino si attrezza con un wiki nascente che verrà usato per mettere a disposizione degli studenti materiale in un formato sempre disponibile e facile da stampare (si spera il meno possibile, le foreste ringraziano).

Oltre a questo però, presto sarà chiesto agli studenti di partecipare per realizzare la solita (ehm) "base di conoscenza condivisa".. Copyright vari permettendo, si spera che possa diventare una risorsa interessante anche ai non iniziati. Ci saranno pezzi volanti di mcluhan, wiener, cinema.. vedremo.

Nel frattempo, io mi guadagno la possibilità di indottrinare su "quanto è ffico il wiki" torme di studenti. Figata! (unico neo, alle 8 del mattino il lunedi!) :D

Wiki overhaul

I've been giving the wiki a new theme, matching the blog, and a new organization to make it more clear and accessible.

I'm trying to find more uses for it, in order to make it possibly useful for other people too. For a start, I'm putting on stuff I'll have to use in a future course about Flash I'm doing, to help me cure my painful financial situation! :D

Oh, and Dokuwiki is such a great piece of software. If you ever need a wiki, you should consider it as an option.

At work we are trying to imagine (and set up) new ways you can provide support for the learner using some shiny new toys from the "web2.0 world".

Since what I proposed is to set up a wiki for students to post their notes (plus some other tool that is highly classified :D ), here I am, trying to put my mouth where my ...well.. studies are.

I still have to endure some examinations (yes, endure,all the funny ones are long gone, strangely, and I'm left with the boring and strange ones) and so I'm experimenting this on me.

I'm taking notes on my progress on this exam I have to take shorty. I will put them in the wiki here, and maybe they could be useful for some other fellow unlucky student someday. (my notes are always a bit short and crappy, but still...).

First attempt: Comunicazione territorio e ambiente.

Let's see if it works, and if I'm able to keep it up.

I have to go now,study calls! :D

Wiki engines, plastic designs, sweating...

Things are moving fast at work, even if the summertime is definitely here (judging from the amount of sweat I can produce by cycling on flat terrain for 10 minutes to get there). Hopefully, the focus here is switching a bit from the e-learning thing, over to the e-learning2.0 thing.

That's good, because e-learning2.0 is less about reading the user's manual for philosophy online, and more about collaborating with peers,creating content, being happy, using websites with colorful and plasticky interfaces and fooling around (which is my biggest occupation, as you might know).

So a lot is dealing with wikis, and blogs and things like that, that are able to spark some interest in this big guy with a huge "What's my actual job" sign hanging from the neck. :D

Unfortunately, since everything we do is Super Secret and the competitors are always listening, I can't show you for example the actual joyful logo I did for this ongoing project, or tell you about the painful amount of fiddling you need to get a Twiki website up and running. (the logo is the one you see on the left, and well... it takes ages to understand that damn Twiki thing!!)
