I finally managed to seriously do my 5-cent worth of contribution to the world of opensource software!

if you check this link http://www.alia.org.uk... you can see a small script that got included in the latest distrubution of elgg (elgg a social networking tool you can download for and use freely (of course). I'm so happy lots of people will use my primitive and buggy code! :)

There's a lot of ways you can contribute: writing documentation, translating interfaces, coding, designing themes and so on... Get into it! :)
